The Characters of Ska Brewing

INFO

The difference between the faceless machinations of a corporate beverage conglomerate and a small craft brewer like Ska (besides of course, the beer) is the people. Ska Brewing tends to collect some of the best from all around.

Staff pictures aren’t just for social media. Great branding starts from within. When employees feel seen, connected, and celebrated, that energy flows outward, to your product, your customers, and your community.

Each year at Ska Brewing, I spearheaded the creation of a company yearbook, a heartfelt, high-spirited tribute to the people behind the beer.

This wasn’t just a collection of photos; it was a culture-building project rooted in creativity, curiosity, and community.

Yearly

As the Social Sorceress (Social Media Manager), I photographed every staff member and curated questions that tapped into the personality and energy of our crew. Each edition highlighted how long employees had been with Ska, their favorite brew, and answers to a rotating annual question—like:

What’s an album you can listen to start to finish, no skips?

What was your favorite live show?

WHY IT MATTERS:

Fostering Internal Culture & Connection

In a fast-paced brewery environment, it’s easy to work alongside someone every day and still not know their story. The yearbook became a fun, low-pressure way to highlight personalities across departments—from brewers and bar staff to admin and packaging. It helped build real relationships beyond the day-to-day.

  • • Preserved Ska’s Irreverent, Music-Driven Spirit
  • Ska Brewing isn’t just about beer—it’s about the people, the shenanigans they get up to, and the music that shapes both. These yearbooks captured that spirit year after year in a format that was creative, nostalgic, and uniquely Ska.

  • • Elevated Internal Communications Through Storytelling
  • This was a design-driven project that involved content planning, photography, editing, and layout. It showcased my ability to combine branding, storytelling, and internal engagement into a single cohesive piece that involved every staff member at Ska Brewing.
